Forgings are regularly required where properties like strength & reliability, resistance to shock is important through an economic process. Thus, forged components offer the desired degree of high or low temperature performance, ductility, hardness, and machinability.
There are majorly three methods to make a forged component-
1) Impression Die Forging
2) Open Die Forging
3) Seamless rolled ring forging
Forged components are preferred over castings because they have a tight grain structure, forging is mechanically stronger than a casting, and forgings are not susceptible to cavities, cold pour problems, porosity or shrinkage.
